Crossfire – General Release

Crossfire (contemporary/crime)

Murder, kidnapping and a disappearance. Trooper Rick Anthis could use a break. But he hopes it isn’t too latein coming.

Rick Anthis, a forty-five-year-old veteran of the Colorado State Police and his husband, Gabriel Thorkelson, a deputy sheriff in a nearby county, enjoy the peace of their suburban Boulder home, but the neighborhood’s tranquility is shattered by three rapid-fire gunshots. The pair’s quick reaction allows Rick to witness the abduction of his eight-year-old buddy, Jacob, by his father.

In their quest to find the boy, the clues are sparse and time is of the essence since Jacob is diabetic, a condition Gabriel is far too familiar with. A search of the father’s apartment yields nothing more than an old hiking map that narrows the search down to a few hundred square miles. Rick and his CSI team are on the hunt, but with every bit of progress they make, they are thwarted, especially when Gabriel turns up missing.

“Crossfire” available again

For those of you who haven’t read “Crossfire”, it now available through Amazon for 99 cents. The original short story was about 10,000 words and appeared as part of an anthology. But the rights reverted back to me and I decided to make it available on Amazon. So I cleaned it up and republished it.

Release Day for Home Grown!

Yippee! It’s finally here. Home Grown is out today!

Home Grown-3It’s available from Dreamspinner Press, Amazon, and All Romance. You also want to watch the blog tour. I’ll be giving out the actual recipes from the book, as well as a few favorites.

A little about the novella:

Peter Stevens believes nothing tastes better than a vine-ripened tomato tended by a farmer’s hands. The craving for heirloom tomatoes leads him to his local farmers’ market and his favorite vendor, Ethan Hart. As Peter becomes a regular customer, the two find they have more in common than a love of good food. Just as Ethan begins to relax, Peter’s ex, Jay, appears and is all the things Ethan is not. A perfect storm of mistakes and poor choices, as well as Ethan’s haunted past, has him ready to admit defeat. With the guidance of friends and a goat far too smart for her own good, Ethan realizes he needs to have a tender hand and patience to grow a home for Peter.

Ethan’s stomach fluttered, his anticipation building as he scanned the early morning farmer’s market crowd. Stop it. Peter will show up when he shows up. Ethan snapped his attention back to the present when the small gray-haired woman who ran the booth beside him tucked herself under his arm and hugged him tight.

“Morning, good-looking.”

“Morning, Maggie. How are things going?” Ethan kissed the top of her head and returned her embrace.

“Not bad, not bad. I’ve put out all the soaps. I hope everyone feels dirty today and stocks up.”

Ethan chuckled at the image of mud people gathering around Maggie’s stall. “Well, my customers can be clean. But I think business today will be good. The late season tomatoes are finally ripe, and I’ve had lots of people asking about them.”

“Including Peter?”

Heat crept up Ethan’s cheeks. “Peter? I don’t know. Probably. You know he has a thing for my tomatoes.”

“Uh-huh, yeah. I might have been born at night, but it wasn’t last night. Admit it to Auntie Maggie, you have the hots for the boy, and I think he has a thing for more than your tomatoes.”

Ethan brushed off her speculation with a wave of his hand. “Maggie, you’re crazy. That man’s some kinda high-powered muckety-muck downtown. He’d never know I lived in Wisconsin if I didn’t have the best tomatoes in the market.”

Ethan studied the forming crowd, their sounds echoing through the building. “It looks like it’s getting busy, I’d better check to make sure I got everything from the truck.”

He embraced her again and trotted out the side door to his pickup. I’m not ready to talk to anyone about my feelings about Peter.

A little about the story.

Cole and Tara are a happy couple, but both are drawn to the potential of a triad relationship. Dalton, their new roommate, is coming to the realization that he is attracted to both Tara, and Cole. With twists and turns, they begin to work their way through their complex new love with its youthful mistakes, unresolved issues, family baggage and life after graduation converge to create a struggle that the three must face in order for their relationship to survive and flourish.

Want a little more? Okay, here’s an excerpt!

Dalton closed his chopsticks on the last piece of spicy tuna roll, only to have Cole try to steal it. The two wrangled back and forth until Cole grabbed the piece with his fingers and tossed the final bit into his mouth. He sighed as he chewed and winked at Dalton. He was coming to enjoy Cole’s joking personality, and Tara was having a good time, too. Actually she seemed to enjoy having someone else around so all of Cole’s juvenile behavior wasn’t directed at her. Continue reading

Cover reveal for Drawing the Devil

A heart can live a lifetime in eight seconds.

I got the news I could share the cover for Drawing the Devil! It’s my first novel and I’m excited about it’s release with Samhain Publishing. Now the bad news, the release date is Feb 3rd of next year. I know, I know…the anticipation is killing me too. But I’ll be sure and tease you mercilessly and keep you on the edge of your seats.

But for now, here is the first viewing of the cover

and the blurb for the novel:

Ever since his father caught him with another boy and threw him out at the tender age of sixteen, Dustin Lewis has been fighting his way up the national bull-riding rankings. He’s on the brink of qualifying for the National Finals when he draws Diablo, a notoriously rank bull—and the ride goes bad.

When bullfighter Shane Rees frees Dustin from the rigging of the same bull that nearly destroyed his face, he comes dangerously close to dropping his guard. Shane knows the potential consequences of being gay in a sport loaded with testosterone-overdosed cowboys, and the resulting scars of mind and body have left him with little self-worth.

Their near-death-by-bull first meeting sparks an attraction that awakens every last one of their personal demons. Yet as the National Finals draws closer, so do they. But they’ll have to overcome emotional highs, near-tragic lows, and bone-crushing danger before love can bust out of the chute.
